Directions
Adults:

Before applying Fulcare Anti-Fungal, wash and dry the infected nails.
Apply in a thin layer over entire infected nail and 5mm of surrounding skin
Allow to dry for approximately 30 seconds
The nail should not be washed for at least 6 hours, therefore, it is best to apply before going to bed.
For best results Anti-Fungal nail lacquer should be used everyday for at least 6 to 12 months.

What is a fungal nail infection?
Fungal nail infections, also known as Onychomycosis (pronounced ON-E-CO-MY-CO-SIS), is a common nail disorder affecting between 3-5% of People and about 20% of the population over 60 years.1 The condition can affect both toenails and fingernails, however toenail infections are more common.1 It is important to treat fungal nail infections as they can be cosmetically unattractive and if left untreated can cause pain and discomfort.1

What causes fungal nail infections?
Fungal nail infections are caused by a fungus spreading under the nail into the nail bed.2 Fungal infections can be easily picked up anywhere there is a warm and moist environment allowing the fungus to spread from one person to another, for example swimming pools, public showers, and changing rooms.1 There are other factors contributing to fungal nail infections including the wearing of tight shoes, injury to the nail, advancing age and pre-existing medical conditions.2 Early treatment of fungal nail infections is important so that the condition does not progress and cause pain and discomfort.1

What are the signs of fungal nail infections?
The first signs are usually discolouration of the nail. The affected nail can exhibit a yellowish brown appearance.2 Fungal-infected nails can become thickened and distorted and may cause pain and discomfort particularly when wearing shoes.1

Who is at risk for developing a fungal nail infection?
There are a number of factors that can contribute to fungal nail infections these include:2

poor circulation
smoking
repeated nail trauma
wearing tight closed-in shoes
advancing age
and pre-existing medical conditions
People participating in sporting activities that involve running may be at increased risk as there is often damage to the toenail that can allow infections to get under the nail. Running shoes offer a warm moist environment which is ideal for the development of a fungal infection. Fulcare is simple and easy to use. Unlike other topical treatments there is no messy filing of the nail required.

Simply brush Fulcare on to the nail and allow to dry for 30 seconds.
Leave on the nails for at least 6 hours overnight and wash off in the morning.
Continue using Fulcare every day for at least 6 to 12 months until clear and healthy nails have regrown.

How do I use Fulcare ?
Before applying Fulcare anti-fungal nail lacquer, ensure that the nail polish is removed. Then wash and dry the infected nail.

Application in the evening before going to bed is recommended.

Apply a thin layer over the entire infected nail surface and 5mm of surrounding skin and if possible under the free edge of the nail.

Allow to dry for at least 30 seconds.

Leave on the nail for at least 6 hours overnight and simply wash off with water in the morning.

Do not apply nail polish or other nail medication on the nails being treated.

How long do I have to use Fulcare?
Treatment should continue until clear and healthy nails have regrown. This usually takes about 6 months for the fingernails and about 9 to 12 months for the toenails. Nails grow very slowly, about 2 to 3mm per month for fingernails and 1mm per month for toenails,2 so do not be disappointed if there is no visible improvement after a few weeks. It is important to continue treatment until nails are clear otherwise the fungi can continue to infect the nail and the condition could get worse again. You should consult your doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 6 months for fingernails and 12 months for toenails.

Do I have to file or soak my nails before using Fulcare?
You do not have to file or soak the nail(s) before applying Fulcare Simply brush Fulcare on to the nail, allow the lacquer to dry (30 seconds) and leave on the nail(s) for 6 hours overnight.

Can I use Fulcare if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not recommend the use of Fulcare in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Fulcare is not likely to be absorbed by the body in significant amounts after being applied to the nails however we do not recommend that Fulcare be applied during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while using this medicine stop using it and tell your doctor or pharmacist.

What do I do if the product is accidentally swallowed?
If Fulcare is accidentally swallowed immediately telephone your doctor or Poisons Information Centre, or go to Accident and Emergency at your nearest hospital.

Are there any side effects?
Fulcare Anti-fungal nail lacquer is generally well tolerated. Side effects are usually mild and short-lived. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any of the following: Skin irritation, redness or rash around the application area, change in shape or colour of the nail, ingrown toenail, tenderness, bleeding or burning of the nail bed, increased pain beneath the nail, dermatitis (inflammation of the skin).

What do I do if I forget to apply Fulcare?
If you forget to apply Fulcare apply as soon as you remember. Then go back to using Fulcare as you would normally. Do not use a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
